CGX AERO'S ACTIVE ENGAGEMENT IN KEY INDUSTRY EVENTS

Over the past three months, CGX AERO has actively engaged in key industry events, showcasing our expertise and forging valuable connections.
In May, we attended the UAF 2024 meetings in Toulouse, participating in discussions and workshops on aviation challenges. This provided a great platform to interact with clients and partners, sharing insights and addressing industry issues. Later that month, we hosted a Day of Awareness on Aeronautical Constraints in Paris, focusing on aeronautical constraints for renewable energy projects. The session was highly informative, offering training on regulatory requirements and trajectory protection.
In June, we participated in the IFAIMA 2024 conference in Lima, discussing solutions for AIS to AIM transitions. Our presence at these events has strengthened our industry relationships and demonstrated our commitment to aviation excellence.

The next Day of Awareness on Aeronautical Constraints we organize will be held on the 26th of September 2024 in Strasbourg. We invite you to come in large numbers ! Stay tuned for more updates from CGX AERO!
RENOVATION OF RUNWAY 13/31 AT CAEN-CARPIQUET AIRPORT
CGX AERO is proud to have collaborated with TPFi to renovate Runway 13/31 and its associated equipment at Caen-Carpiquet Airport, following a project management contract won in 2022. The project, which began in June 2022, included the design phase and the execution of works from March 11 to April 18, 2024.
CGX AERO handled the airport safety and compliance studies, as well as two feasibility studies on the compliance of the approach lighting system for Runway 31 and the conversion of the old secondary runway.
The work was carried out over 6 weeks while maintaining aeronautical activity thanks to careful organization, allowing the work to take place in complete safety, without impact on air traffic. Runway 13/31 was put back into service on time to host international delegations for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

PROMOTING GREEN AVIATION : EXPERTISE IN DEVELOPING PHOTOVOLTAIC PROJECTS AT AIRPORTS

In recent years, the development of photovoltaic projects at airports has significantly increased. Whether for international airports or smaller aerodromes, installing photovoltaic parks allows the use of neglected areas to produce electricity in an environmentally responsible manner or to increase revenue by injecting the produced energy into the grid.
CGX AERO has provided its expertise to numerous clients, including photovoltaic operators (Urbasolar, QEnergy, Valorem, Loiret Energie), across various airport platforms (Marseille, Orléans, Deauville, Marie-Galante, Montbéliard, Le Blanc, etc.).
Our missions include:
Conducting feasibility studies to identify areas of interest for photovoltaic installations (rooftops, parking lot canopies, ground-mounted systems), taking into account the stakeholders present on the platform.
Assisting photovoltaic operators with aviation safety and regulatory compliance aspects to strengthen their bids during tenders.
Performing detailed safety and aviation compliance analyses for project approval by the DGAC, necessary to obtain a building permit.
With these experiences, CGX AERO offers comprehensive technical support tailored to the needs of each client.
EFFICIENT AND ECO-FRIENDLY : MUSCAT AIRPORT'S SOUTHERN RUNWAY LAUNCH

On May 16, 2024, the Civil Aviation Authority of Oman proudly announced the commencement of commercial operations for the new southern runway at Muscat International Airport. Following the issuance of the operational license, this new runway aims to enhance both international and domestic air traffic, aligning with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
Designed by CGX AERO, the new PBN procedures (STARs and approaches) for both parallel runways promise to streamline air traffic management. This innovation will significantly reduce the workload for air traffic controllers, cut aircraft fuel consumption, and lower pollution levels. The southern runway is a significant step forward in advancing Oman's civil aviation sector and improving airport infrastructure.

ASECNA AND CGX AERO : COLLABORATION FOR DIGITAL AERONAUTICAL DATA

As part of its strategic plans, ASECNA launched a project aimed at complying with ICAO requirements for the availability of electronic terrain data (eTOD) and aerodrome mapping data (AMDB).

CGX AERO, in collaboration with Airbus Defense & Space, was commissioned to carry out this pilot project at Blaise Diagne Airport (GOBD) to improve air navigation services in accordance with the standards and practices in force since November 12, 2015 (Chap. 5.3.3 Annex 15 of the ICAO). The project is based on three pillars: regulatory support and skills transfer, the provision and validation of data, and the provision and installation of the associated software system. Firstly, the software system was successfully tested in December 2023 after being launched in September 2023. Then, the collection and validation of AMDB, obstacle, and terrain data took place from January to March 2024. Lastly, skills transfer and system training sessions were held between March and April 2024, followed by the on-site system validation in May 2024 at Blaise Diagne Airport.
The delivery of validated data and the finalization of the project were completed before the T0+8 month deadline. The next step is the verification of the data by the Senegalese regulator (ANACIM) before their publication by ASECNA on a web portal developed by CGX AERO, allowing users to view and download the eTOD and AMDB data. Everything is now ready for the digitization of eTOD and AMDB data for all other airports managed by ASECNA.

PBN IMPLEMENTATION PROGRESS IN ROMANIA

The implementation of Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) continues to accelerate with our client ROMATSA. In the last quarter, new airports have been approved and are in the process of flight validation and publication.
The airports of Bacau, Cluj Napoca, Tulcea, Targu Mures, and Bucharest Otopeni have had their documents approved by the Romanian authority and will now proceed with their implementation cycle until publication. As with previous airports, each has been brought into compliance with the IR-PBN regulation through the study of the three required minima (LPV, LNAV-VNAV, LNAV).
