AIRPORTS

Airport management is one of the most challenging activities in aviation, facing not only internal dilemmas but also external pressures from urban development, such as obstacle creation and, of course, regulatory compliance. Accommodating development strategies and operational efficiency, along with safety and compliance with regulations, is a daily problem to tackle.

With more than 15 years of practice and experience, our team offers professional aviation services to airport and heliport owners and operators. Based on a flexible and tailored methodology, we are ready to meet your daily needs and provide you with the highest quality of aviation support services and aeronautical training. Discover how our team can deliver quality services.

Balanced Approach Studies

Airport platforms should accommodate both city connections and growth needs, as well as residents' quality of life. Balancing these objectives can be a challenging task, especially when traffic growth generates noise impacts on neighborhoods. Regulation UE 598/2014 introduced the requirement to conduct a balanced approach study for airports with over 50,000 yearly movements, aiming to evaluate accessible solutions to limit or minimize noise impacts on the population.

Based on a cost/benefit approach, operational restrictions can only be implemented if they have demonstrated their efficiency. Working on the top six busiest airports in France, CGX AERO and its partners have developed a reliable methodology for the balanced approach study, relying on on a detailed understanding of different parameters that impact air traffic and quantitative metrics to support decision making.

Applicable regulations to aerodromes and heliports are established in order to set high level safety standards for runways, taxiways, aprons, and all airport infrastructure, in general, are compliant and safe for operations. Our team designs, audits, and optimizes airport facilities, complying with international regulations (ICAO), European regulations (EASA), and/or national requirements.

Our experts provide efficient and reliable technical support in, for example:

  • Airside facilities design and compliance (runways, taxiways, aprons, etc.)

  • Airfield markings optimization

  • Obstacle assessment

  • Accommodation for larger aircraft

AIRPORT SAFETY AND REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

CGX AERO offers support in defining the adequate framework for airports' future developments and their limits through Airport Master Planning activities. We offer a rational and organized development of the aerodroms, tailored to the understanding of local requirements and air transport opportunities. Our services include:

  • Strategic visualizations based on refined forecasts

  • Airfield infrastructure and facilities extensions

  • Land use plan developments

  • Socioeconomic analyses

  • Environmental considerations

  • Cost estimates

  • Airport blueprint of planning projections

TRAINING

Safety is the primary concern for aviation stakeholders. Implementing a safety culture and safety assurance system involves several activities that our expert team consolidates every year worldwide, providing:

  • Safety Management System (SMS) implementation and operational documentation management

  • Audits and diagnoses (compliance audits, infrastructure diagnoses, SMS audits, training of internal auditors, etc.)

  • Safety assessments during airport construction/maintenance works or when commissioning a new facility or equipment or modifications of aerodrome operational procedures

  • Support in maintaining the validity of an airport safety certificate

Beyond consultancy, CGX AERO also specializes in knowledge transfer. We offer tailormade specialized training on aviation regulations, including for example:

  • ICAO Annex 14 Airfield and heliport design (regulations overview, runways, taxiways, aprons, markings, signs, lights, obstacle management, planning, and design, etc.)

  • ICAO Annex 19 Safety management (SMS implementation, SMS audits, airport hazard risk analysis, documentation, and processes associated with aerodrome certification, etc.)

  • Aerodrome certification according to EASA regulations (infrastructure and operations requirements, new responsibilities, compliance monitoring expectations, etc.)
