Course Objectives

At the end of this training, participants will be able to implement and maintain an effective Safety Management System in line with EASA requirements.

Prerequisite(s)

Have basic aeronautical knowledge and an understanding of EASA regulations.

Content

This course introduces the principles of Safety Management Systems applied to airport operations. The training follows the structure below :


Module 1 : Basic airport culture

  • Airport infrastructure organization

  • Apron-related issues

  • Traffic rules

  • Rules around the aircraft

  • Accident prevention


Module 2 : SMS principles applied to airports

  • Objectives of the SMS

  • Best practices on notification management

  • Roles of the Responsible Manager and SMS Manager

  • SMS implementation


Module 3 : Applicable regulations

  • Regulatory levels and role of the Supervisory Authority

  • Structure and context of regulations

  • Key elements of EASA (IR-ADR)


Module 4 : Airport Security Impact Assessment

  • Regulatory context and requirements

  • Scope and content of the EISA form

  • Identification of feared "airport" events

  • Identification of causes and consequences: methodologies

  • Risk classification and mitigation measures


Module 5 : Introduction to compliance monitoring

  • Regulatory context and requirements

  • Role of the Compliance Monitoring Officer (CMO)

  • Change definition within EASA scope

  • Implementation of change management

  • Change procedures and Oversight Authority approval process

Evaluation Method

Instructor evaluation based on the successful completion of the proposed exercises.

Certificate
